Detours

Design an enticing and dependable experience for layover passengers at O'hare airport.

USER JOURNEY

We found that the layover journey has several different stages and people’s activities, anxieties, ambitions and attitudes are different in every stage. And analyzed the state of mind  that travelers are in at every stage and discovered that there will be room for improvement.

We defined the ideal state based on traveler’s ambitions and findings from our research. To meet the requirements in this ideal state, we created ”how might we”-statements to help us in the following synthesis process.

LAYOVER JOURNEY MODES POSITION MAP

We created 2by2 diagram, Serendipity in our language means “unplanned, but pleasant“. It’s something positive that you don’t anticipate, and therefore creates powerful memories.Planning in contrast is a very cold activity. On the y-axis, we added knowledge andinformationInformation is utilitarian and unprocessed; knowledge is created when the information gets qualified by personal experience.

PROROTYPING
